Presidents Message

Recently, I was delighted to announce that 1st United Bank was acquired by Minneapolis-based J&B Financial Holdings, Inc. J&B has a history of owning community banks in Minnesota. The ownership group is committed to continuing our tradition of strong community support.

Throughout our history, 1st United has played a leading role in the Faribault community. Since our founding in 1920, we’ve gone through many changes. I think almost all of those changes have made us a better organization, an organization which remains strongly committed to our community and the customers we serve.

After J&B acquires 1st United, I will remain as the bank’s president. The entire management and customer service team which has served our community so well will also remain, along with the products and services we offer. Finally, our focus will remain the same: to continue to build long-term banking relationships with our customers based on mutual commitment and trust. Ken Betsinger, former bank president and my mentor, always reminded us that “The bank is what it is because of its customers and employees.” That continues to be true.
